Severe flooding hits Russia's Krasnodar resorts after heavy rainfall
Severe rainfall triggered widespread flooding across several resort areas in the Krasnodar region on May 26, causing infrastructure damage and prompting a localised state of emergency in one coastal settlement.
According to information reported by the Telegram channel Shot, the Teshebs River overflowed its banks following intense precipitation, leading to significant flooding in Arkhipo-Osipovka. A transformer substation in the area was inundated, while vehicles parked nearby were partially submerged, with water levels reaching up to half their height. Two residential houses were also flooded. In response to the situation, local authorities declared a state of emergency in the village.
The storm’s impact extended to other nearby resort locations. In Dzhubga, part of the embankment collapsed due to the extreme weather conditions. Meanwhile, Inal Bay experienced additional damage as hurricane-force winds accompanied the heavy rainfall. Several commercial pavilions were damaged, and parts of the local beach infrastructure were affected.
Emergency services are currently working on-site to deal with the aftermath of the flooding and storm damage.
