Survey data shows Armenians' disillusionment both with government and opposition

22 August 2022 18:15

If parliamentary elections in Armenia were held on the upcoming Sunday, 16.1 per cent would vote for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's "Civil Contract" party and 5.1 per cent for Kocharyan's opposition "Armenia" bloc.

The due results were obtained by the Gallup International polls conducted in July and August, Caliber.Az reports quoting Armenian media.

The sympathies of potential voters for both political forces decreased. Thus, according to the surveys, published in April, 20.4 per cent of respondents were ready to vote for the "Civil Contract", now this figure has decreased to 16.1 per cent.

By the results of April polls, 8.3 per cent of respondents were ready to vote for the "Armenia" bloc. Now this figure, as noted above, is only 5.1 per cent.

According to the polls, 32.8 per cent of the respondents said they would not take part in the elections. 12.1 per cent refused to answer and 15.6 per cent found it difficult to answer.

If the elections were held next weekend, according to the polls, only the two above-mentioned forces would have a chance to enter parliament, while the other parties did not overcome the barrier.

According to the polls, the "I Have Honor" bloc would be in third place with 2.7 per cent of the vote. 2.3 per cent of respondents said they would vote for the "Prosperous Armenia" party. 1.1 per cent of the respondents are ready to vote for the "Public Voice" party, the honorary chairman of which is former police officer Vardan Ghukasyan (aka Dog). 0.8 per cent of the respondents are ready to vote for "National Democratic Pole" and 0.7 per cent - for Aram Sargsyan's "Republic" party.

The votes in favor of the other parties were insignificant and varied in the range of 0.1-0.3 per cent.
