Top Azerbaijani official meets ADB regional department chief

Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the COP29 Organising Committee Samir Nuriyev met Director General of the Central and West Asia Regional Department of the Asian Development Bank Eugene Zhukov.

According to APA, the sides exchanged views on cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank and the process of preparation for COP29.

Samir Nuriyev said this year marks the 25th anniversary of Azerbaijan's cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and emphasized that Azerbaijan highly appreciates this cooperation. Samir Nuriyev noted the projects implemented towards the development of the green energy transition agenda in the country.

The COP29 Organizing Committee chairman touched upon the preparations for COP29 under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and informed the interlocutor about the work carried out towards the organization of this prestigious high-level event in our country.

The director-general congratulated Azerbaijan on its election as COP29 host and noted that the work done by the COP29 chairmanship in a short period is praiseworthy. He said the Asian Development Bank intends to closely co-operate with Azerbaijan and provide technical support in connection with COP29.

Eugene Zhukov expressed satisfaction with the achievements in the field of diversification of Azerbaijan's economy and transition to "green energy" and emphasized that the ADB is ready to contribute to this process.
