Tragic bus accident in Iran claims 10 lives
A devastating road accident in Yazd province, Iran, has resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people and injuries to more than 40 others.
According to Mohammad Ali Malekzadeh, head of the Provincial Emergency Situations Organisation, the incident occurred at approximately 02:30 when a passenger bus travelling from Bushehr to Mashhad overturned on the Yazd-Tebes highway, 140 kilometres from Yazd, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Preliminary reports indicate that 10 people lost their lives, while around 41 individuals sustained injuries of varying severity. The injured, including numerous women and children, were transported to hospitals in Erdekan, Meybod, and Yazd.
Iran's road safety record remains troubling, with over 20,000 traffic-related fatalities reported in the year leading up to March, as stated by the judiciary’s Legal Medicine Organization.
This latest accident follows a tragic bus crash last month involving Pakistani pilgrims en route to Iraq for Arbaeen, which resulted in 28 deaths. Shortly after, another bus crash claimed three lives and left 48 injured.
