Turkish coast guard receives Bayraktar drones
The head of the Turkish Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), Ismail Demir has said that the Turkish Coast Guard Command has received six Bayraktar TB2 drones, marking the first such delivery of the UAVs to the command.
“We are continuing to equip our security forces with national systems. We delivered six Bayraktar TB2 drones with six local [produced by Aselsan] CATS cameras to the Coast Guard Command. In this way, the TB2s entered the Coast Guard Command inventory for the first time,” Demir wrote in a tweet on October 20.
The producer of the drones, Baykar, also said that the company is “continuing to develop, produce and work for every inch of our homeland and the security of Blue Homeland”, referring to a maritime doctrine prioritising security and sidelining diplomacy in the East Mediterranean.
Baykar's drones have drawn international attention in recent years with their use in Ukraine, the recent Karabakh war and other regions.
