Turkish ruling party hails Azerbaijan for refusing Granada meeting with Armenian premier
“We appreciate the decision of the Azerbaijani president to refuse a meeting in Granada.”
Spokesperson for the ruling Justice and Development Party of Türkiye (AK Parti) Omer Celik has said, Report says.
He said that France has long defended Armenia, adding that “it is unacceptable that France participates in a five-party meeting and Turkey does not”.
Omer Celik noted that France never called Armenia an occupier: “Azerbaijan has already resolved the Garabagh issue.”
In his words, if the international community wanted peace, it would be interested in Türkiye's participation in the meeting.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev refused a trip to Spain, where a meeting was supposed to take place with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with the participation of the leaders of the European Union, France and Germany. The reason for this was the destructive position of France, which was a participant in the planned five-party meeting, as well as the disagreement of Paris and Berlin over Türkiye’s participation in it.
