The successful test events checked many of the hardware and software features of the Deli Kamikaze UAV. Testing of the Deli drone, first introduced in October 2022, is expected to continue for some time.
The Deli drone, also capable of operating in an anti-Jam GNSS payload, has a cruising speed of 80 kilometres per hour and a top speed of 180 kilometres.
The Deli Kamikaze, which can be launched either by hand or catapulted, has a maximum takeoff weight of 13 kg, a range of 85 kilometres, a flight time of 75 minutes and a working altitude of 3,500 metres. Normally operating at 150-500 metres, the UAV has a 3.1-kg mortar-type warhead developed by TÜBİTAK-SAGE.
The Deli Kamikaze UAV will gain multitasking capability in a distributed architecture in the next phases.
The kamikaze drone concept has been acquiring more significance lately. Since the Ukrainian-Russian war, many countries have developed and delivered such systems. Currently, the KARGU rotary-wing kamikaze UAV, developed by STM, is actively used by security units in Türkiye and 10 countries.
