Türkiye confirms participation in Swiss conference on Ukraine
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has confirmed that Türkiye will participate in an upcoming conference on Ukraine in Switzerland.
"We will be attending the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland this Saturday," Fidan announced at a press conference in Ankara. The announcement was broadcast on the Turkish Ministry's X page.
It should be noted that an international peace summit concerning the Russo-Ukrainian War, formally called the Summit on Peace in Ukraine, will be held in Bürgenstock Resort in Switzerland on June 15-16, 2024. The conference follows a series of four earlier international meetings and will be hosted by the Swiss president Viola Amherd.
At least 90 states and organizations confirmed their participation in the summit.
"The broadest possible participation is important in order to be able to initiate a broadly backed process," Swiss President Viola Amherd told a press briefing in Berlin. "The fact that so many states are sending such high-ranking delegations shows that it was right to initiate a broadly backed process."
Amherd noted that half of the countries will be represented by the heads of state.
