Türkiye presents first homegrown turbofan engine
The first Turkish turbofan engine TEI-TF6000 was presented on the sidelines of the TEKNOFEST festival in Izmir.
TAI Engine Industry Inc. (TEI) presented developments in the field of engines for the aviation industry at the TEKNOFEST Izmir exhibition, organized by the Technology Teams Foundation of Türkiye (T3 Foundation) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, according to Anadolu.
As part of the festival, the TEI-TF6000 turbofan engine, which the company has been working on for quite some time, was presented for the first time.
TEI CEO Mahmut Aksit said that TEKNOFEST Ankara was given the task of providing a prototype for the next festival and the company fulfilled it.
Explaining that in the defence industry, in addition to rocket and electric engines, engines for UAVs, helicopters and airplanes are needed, he noted that as a result of the work carried out, the country received engine technologies for UAVs and helicopters.
“For complete success, all that remained was to develop aircraft engine technology. Today this demonstration confirms that Türkiye has created its own aircraft engine. This is a very important and turning point. At this stage, creating a larger or smaller engine is a matter of time, money and design development. We can then quickly adapt them according to the required settings,” added Mahmut Aksit.
