Türkiye’s Atmaca UM cruise missile achieves record-breaking range in latest test VIDEO
In a significant milestone for Türkiye's defence capabilities, the country's indigenous Atmaca UM land-attack cruise missile has shattered records with an astonishing 400-kilometer range in its latest test launch.
The Atmaca UM, an evolution of the successful Atmaca anti-ship missile system, has set new benchmarks in both flight duration and range, cementing Türkiye's position as a growing missile power, Caliber.Az reports.

The development was confirmed by Professor Haluk Görgün, President of Türkiye’s Defence Industries (SSB), who praised the successful test launch, stating, “The Atmaca UM cruise missile’s successful completion of its longest and farthest flight demonstrates the engineering prowess and technological sophistication of Türkiye’s defence industry.”
The missile’s ability to strike targets up to 600 kilometers away, carrying a powerful 250-kilogram warhead, marks a monumental leap in Türkiye’s offensive capabilities. The Atmaca UM stands out for its ability to perform precise strikes deep into enemy territory, using a Digital Scene-Mapping Area Correlation (DSMAC) system alongside an Imaging Infrared (IIR) seeker. This enables it to navigate low altitudes with surgical precision, ensuring accurate and deadly strikes on high-value targets.
A key development in the Atmaca UM is its domestically developed turbojet engine, the KTJ-3700, designed by Kale Jet Engines. This engine delivers enhanced thrust and efficiency compared to its predecessor, the KTJ-3200, used in previous missile systems.
With this achievement, Türkiye advances toward complete self-sufficiency in missile technology. The Atmaca UM is the first of its kind in Türkiye’s missile program and is set to be deployed with the Turkish Army later this year.
Additionally, Türkiye’s missile manufacturer, ROKETSAN, is expanding the Atmaca missile family, with plans for a submarine-launched version, a hybrid seeker model, and an air-launched variant, further enhancing Türkiye’s strategic deterrent capabilities.
