Türkiye's Istanbul operation leads to arrest of PKK/YPG key figure PHOTO
Medeni Altundere, a member of the French branch of the PKK/YPG terrorist organisation, has been arrested in Istanbul in a joint operation by Türkiye's National Intelligence Organisation and the Istanbul Police Department.
The agents of the National Intelligence Organisation discovered that Altundere had been involved in propaganda activities within the French division of the organisation, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
After confirming that Altundere, who had participated in various terrorist actions and events carried out in the name of the PKK/YPG in France and Germany, was in Istanbul, the National Intelligence Organisation and the Istanbul Police Department launched a coordinated operation. The arrested terrorist was handed over to judicial bodies, where he was formally taken into custody by the court.
Türkiye's recent operations underscore its steadfast dedication to combating terrorism and bolstering regional security. These measures are part of a strategic effort aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and maintaining stability in the regions. Turkish authorities use the term "neutralise" to describe situations where terrorists either surrender, are killed, or are captured during such operations.
The PKK, recognised as a terrorist organisation by Türkiye, the US and the EU, has led a 40-year campaign of violence against Türkiye, which has claimed more than 40,000 lives, including those of women and children.
