Diplomats gather at NGIC event devoted to upcoming Global Baku Forum
The Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC) organized an official reception dedicated to the upcoming XII Global Baku Forum.
The event was attended by accredited diplomats in Azerbaijan as well as representatives of international organizations, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
The event commenced with an opening speech by NGIC Secretary-General Rovshan Muradov, providing the guests with details on the preparations for the forum, the main topics of the event, and upcoming discussions on global issues. Muradov also spoke of the guests that are confirmed to attend the annual international forum, which will be hosted in Baku from March 13 to 15. Those include several heads of states, high-ranking officials from various countries as well as a number of private sector leaders.
The UN High-Level Climate Leader at COP29, Azerbaijani MP Nigar Arpadarai, provided information about the activities carried out by the COP29 team in collaboration with the NGIC, an Azerbaijani NGO focused on driving projects that allow for multinational dialogue on contemporary issues facing the world, ranging from cultural, religious to political matters. She expressed her gratitute to the NGIC team for their support during the UN climate conference, which was hosted by Baku in November 2024, which according to Arpadarai contributed significantly to the success of COP29.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Vladanka Andreeva, also spoke at the function where she emphasized that the resolution of global issues requires the continuation of multilateral dialogue on platforms such as the Global Baku Forum.
"Today, the world is different. Amid constantly changing global geopolitics, we must adhere to the principles that unite us all: solidarity, humanity, and respect for international law," she said, reiterating the importance of the platform.
Latvia's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Edgars Skuja, was another notable figure delivering remarks during the event. He highlighted the significance of the XII Global Baku Forum and particularly noted the Centre's leading position on international platforms.
Previous editions of the forum were hosted under the following themes: "Fixing the Fractured World", “Building Trust for a Wider Europe”, “World After COVID-19", “A New World Order”, “Towards a Multipolar World”, “Addressing/Challenging Radicalization and Extremism with Interfaith Dialogue for Peace" and “Geopolitics in the Age of Sustainable Development.”
