FMs of Azerbaijan, Norway, Romania discuss regional, int'l situation

    Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met his Norwegian and Romanian counterparts to discuss topical issues of the bilateral and multilateral agenda and the regional and international situation.

    The meetings were held on December 1 on the sidelines of the Council of Ministers of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Poland's Lodz, APA reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

    At the meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt, Bayramov noted that over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, ties have developed in various directions, especially in the energy, oil and gas industries.

    The minister also informed the Norwegian counterpart about the regional situation in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan's peacemaking and creative efforts in the region, Armenia's provocations, non-fulfilment of obligations arising from the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, including the threat of mining.

    Minister Anniken Huitfeldt noted that the events held this year on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijani-Norwegian diplomatic relations contributed to the further expansion of cooperation.

    Anniken Witfeldt stressed that Norway welcomes efforts to reduce tensions and establish peace in the region. In particular, the sides expressed the importance of the normalisation of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations.

    The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.

    At the meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu, he discussed the priority directions of the Azerbaijani-Romanian bilateral strategic partnership, Report informs.

    The two ministers focused on issues of cooperation in various areas, as well as on multilateral platforms. Satisfaction was expressed with the intensification of high-level visits and political dialogue between the two countries.

    Bayramov informed his counterpart about the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, the process of Azerbaijan-Armenia normalisation, as well as the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards the preparation of a peace agreement.
