Protests against French colonialism escalate in New Caledonia

Another protest against France's colonial policy was held in front of the courthouse in Nouméa, the capital of New Caledonia, on February 27.

The protesters demanded the release of activists detained by the French authorities, according to APA.

On February 21, during the visit of French Interior and Overseas Territories Minister Gerald Darmanen, a protest action was held in New Caledonia, during which several activists fighting for the independence of New Caledonia were arrested by the French police.

At the February 27 rally, a statement entitled "Freedom for Political Prisoners" was distributed. The statement noted that France does not respect international law and is not a human rights country, demanding the release of all political prisoners.

At this action, as usual, the flag of Azerbaijan was raised as a sign of respect for the country.
