Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev has said that as in all other countries, Azerbaijani and Turkish diplomats continue cooperating under the motto “One nation, two states” in Ukraine.
Mardaliyev made these remarks at a meeting with Consul General of Türkiye in Odesa Birey Yilmazsoy, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
The ambassador expressed gratitude to the Turkish consul general for close cooperation with the Azerbaijani community of Odesa and noted that during the war, the Consulate General inquires about the problems of Azerbaijanis living in Odesa and surrounding regions.
“While speaking about all spheres of cooperation, we can say that the Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations are at a historical peak. Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in Ukraine is also at the peak of its development. The Azerbaijanis feel confidence due to the activity of the Turkish Consulate General in Odesa,” he said.
In turn, Yilmazsoy spoke about the current situation in Odesa and emphasised the work carried out to evacuate Azerbaijanis.
In a conversation with the Azertag journalist after the meeting, Yilmazsoy noted that before the war and after it began, he always had close ties with the Azerbaijanis who lived and worked in Odesa.
“The Azerbaijani community in Odesa is very active. Azerbaijanis consider us not only as the Consulate General of Türkiye, but also as the Consulate General of Azerbaijan, and invite me to all events as the consul general. Being the consul general not only of Türkiye, but also of Azerbaijan, I try to work with the Azerbaijanis and support them. Despite the war, there are still many Azerbaijanis in Odesa. We support our Azerbaijani brothers both in Odesa and around the world,” Yilmazsoy added.
