President’s assistant emphasizes Azerbaijan-Russia relations at all-time high

    POLITICS  21 June 2024 - 11:39

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev has said that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are at the highest level.

Hajiyev made these remarks at a meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani Expert Council which has already become a good tradition, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani media.

“Today relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are at the highest level. Common culture, history and mutual respect contributed to their development,” he said.

Hajiyev noted that this was possible thanks to the level of mutual understanding between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

“Interregional cooperation is expanding. Azerbaijan maintains relations with more than 70 constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan became one of the transport and logistics hubs on the Eurasian continent thanks to geographical location and huge investments in transport infrastructure.

"Today we live in a world in which the demand for transport routes is growing every day," he said.

While speaking about the Russia-Azerbaijan relations, he emphasised that cooperation in the humanitarian and educational spheres is successfully developing.

“A branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University, a Baku branch of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University are successfully operating in Azerbaijan. It is well known that Azerbaijan pays special attention to the Russian language. More than 40,000 children study the subjects in the Russian language at about 40 schools. A language of study for over 15,000 Azerbaijani citizens is the Russian language at the Azerbaijani universities. The Days of Russian Culture will be held in Azerbaijan this year. Numerous cultural events are also planned to be held. Of course, all this will contribute to further strengthening the ties between the friendly peoples of our countries,” he said.

Hajiyev expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will continue developing thanks to the consistent policy of the leaders of the two countries.
