AFU drone attack damages school, kindergarten, and residential buildings in Russia's Volgograd
Air defence forces in Russia’s Volgograd region repelled a large-scale drone attack launched by Ukrainian forces, regional governor Andrei Bocharov said.
According to him, debris from downed unmanned aerial vehicles fell on 50 Let Oktyabrya Street in Volgograd, causing damage to several buildings.
“As a result of the incident, windows were shattered in three residential houses, a school, and a kindergarten,” Bocharov stated.
He added that one person — an elderly local resident — was injured by glass fragments and has received medical treatment. Residents of the affected apartments were evacuated and provided with temporary accommodation, while emergency response teams are working at the scene.
The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed that air defence systems destroyed and intercepted 42 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight across several regions of the country.
The ministry reported that from 23:00 Moscow time on October 10 to 07:00 Moscow time on October 11, air defence forces on duty neutralised 42 aircraft-type drones. Of these, 19 UAVs were shot down over the Volgograd Region, 15 over the Rostov Region, three over the Ulyanovsk Region, two each over the Voronezh Region and the Republic of Bashkortostan, and one over the Saratov Region.
Authorities said cleanup and assessment of the damage in Volgograd are continuing, and safety measures have been strengthened across the region.
