Analyst: Russia does not have real leverage on Armenia today
The worst thing Russia could do, is put the pro-Russian masses into shock in Armenia.
Caliber.Az reports the statement of the Armenian social analyst, Karen Sargsyan given to Armenian media outlets.
"The worst thing that they could do is to shock the pro-Russian masses, get together and leave Armenia tomorrow. Following that we would have suicides, crying, the suffering of poets. Vice-Prime Minister Mger Grigoryan would be running through the streets in tears, people would be shocked. This is the biggest harm they could cause", said Sargsyan.
According to the analyst, Russia has no real leverage on Armenia today, Moscow is simply not capable of punishing Yerevan for its pro-Western policy. Through their agencies in Armenia, Moscow tries to promote its interests, but it is not able to properly assess the situation and mood of the population. In particular, Kremlin agents were unable to gather demonstrations of more than 10-12 thousand participants event during the best of times.
However, the expert gives a tougher assessments on the activities of the leaders of the separatist non-combatants of Karabakh in this matter, referring to them hostages and at the same time traitors. “They do nothing for the establishment of lasting peace”, Sargsyan stressed.
