Architects from around the world convene in Shusha
The “Islamic Architectural Heritage of Shusha” symposium, organized by the Department of the State Reserve of Shusha with support from ISESCO, has commenced in Azerbaijan's Shusha.
This event is part of an action plan developed following Shusha's designation as the cultural capital of the Islamic world for 2024, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Over 80 architects from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Egypt, the UAE, Tunisia, Kenya, Jordan, Italy, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the UK are participating in the symposium.
On the first day, October 11, Tural Novruzov, Executive Director of the Shusha State Reserve Department, along with architects from the reserve, guided international guests through the city’s historical and architectural landmarks, including restored mosques and fortress walls.
The visitors received detailed insights into the ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects and restoration efforts in Shusha, which is rich in ancient historical and cultural monuments. A city tour was also organized for the attendees.
The symposium will feature panel discussions on topics such as “Regeneration of Historic Urban Texture,” “Modern Life of Monuments,” and “Sustainable Architecture, Materials, Projects, and Performance,” and will conclude on October 13.
