Armenia arrests volunteers’ union ex-rep on suspect of arranging PM Pashinyan’s assassination
26 September 2023 10:49
Former deputy chairman of the Yerkrapah Volunteers Union Albert Bazeyan has been arrested on suspicion of preparing an assassination attempt on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The statement came from his lawyer Georgi Melikyan on the social network, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
The court granted the investigation's petition for arrest as a preventive measure against Bazeyan.
The former deputy chairman of the volunteers’ union does not admit guilt and considers himself a political prisoner.
Earlier, the Armenian National Security Service reported that Bazeyan and seven other members of the military-patriotic organisation "Crusaders" were detained in the case of attempted seizure of power on September 23.
