Armenia, Azerbaijan border delimitation bilateral issue – Russian official
The delimitation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is a bilateral issue.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told reporters on the fringes of the XVI Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in Samarkand, Trend reports on Friday
“The co-chairs on this issue are the deputy prime ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. As for Russia’s participation and role in this process, we are always ready to provide support in providing documents, including cartographic ones at Russia’s disposal,” he noted.
Overchuk emphasized that formally there is a working group to unblock communications.
“The text of the joint statement on the start of construction of the railway through Meghri also exists to a large extent. As for the construction of the road itself, Azerbaijan has already begun construction of a highway through Iran, bypassing Armenia. As far as we know, a memorandum was also signed between Azerbaijan and Iran on the construction of a railway through the territory of Iran, bypassing Armenia,” he added.
