Armenia opens case against man for paying people to join protests
The Armenian Investigative Committee has opened a case against a 29-year-old citizen on charges of bribing people to participate in the rallies of the "Tavush (Tovuzgala) for the Motherland" revanchist movement.
The criminal proceedings were initiated after the publication on the web of a conversation between two men, where one of them complained that he had not been paid the full amount promised for participation in the actions of the opposition movement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The Investigative Committee reported that the identities of the men in the recording were established, and notebooks containing the names of individuals and the amounts they were paid were found. Based on the data obtained, a 29-year-old man who had settled in Kotayk (Yelgovan) province was detained.
He is accused of bribing 4 persons to participate in protest actions, each of whom he paid 5,000 drams (a little more than $10), the Investigation Committee said. The investigation intends to submit a motion to arrest the accused to the court.
