Armenia thwarts attempt to smuggle cocaine worth $500,000 from US

An attempt to smuggle more than a kilogram of cocaine from the United States has been foiled in Armenia.

The drugs weighing 1,148 g and worth $500,000 were in a parcel together with clothes and shoes, Caliber.Az reports, citing the press service of the Armenian State Revenue Committee.

Employees of the Armenian Customs Service substituted the package with drugs and organised an operation to detain the recipients of the parcel. They contacted them and arranged to deliver it. The first was caught red-handed, the second managed to escape. The law enforcers found and detained him.

During the search in the flats of the detainees drugs were found. Later the court arrested both of them.
