Armenian PM refutes Moscow’s assertions on Ukraine grain trade
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has strongly rejected claims made by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) suggesting that Yerevan intends to replace Russian grain with Ukrainian supplies.
Speaking to journalists in parliament, Pashinyan dismissed the allegations as entirely unfounded. He emphasized the implausibility of the claims, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The SVR had previously asserted that, for political reasons, Armenia seeks to “break away” from Moscow and support Ukraine by purchasing part of its grain from Kyiv at elevated prices, with any overpayment allegedly to be reimbursed to Armenia via European Union funds.
“This cannot be true; it is complete absurdity. For the first time, I am breaking my principle and commenting on something I have not personally read. But, a thousand apologies, it is utter absurdity,” Pashinyan stated, underscoring Armenia’s position and rejecting what he described as a baseless narrative.
