Azerbaijan aims to double aquaculture production by 2030
Azerbaijan plans to more than double its aquaculture production by 2030, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova said.
Speaking on June 23, in the city of Saatli at a regional meeting dedicated to the Mil-Mughan economic region, Gadimova outlined the “State Program for the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fishery, and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030,” Caliber.Az reports.
“If in 2025 aquaculture production amounted to 3.4 thousand tons, then under the state program it is planned to increase this figure to 7.7 thousand tons by 2030,” she emphasised.
Gadimova noted that under the state program, the fisheries sector will also benefit from incentives related to technology and equipment.
“In fisheries and aquaculture in our country, with the update of the regulatory framework in the field of fisheries, the goals are to increase and register aquaculture farms and fish farms in the country, ensure their fully legal operation, and, as a result, naturally increase production.
There are also goals to increase exports in fisheries, as you know. Since fisheries are now also part of the agricultural sector, both product subsidies in fisheries and, in accordance with the presidential decree on incentives, the application of benefits for technology and equipment in the fisheries sector can be envisaged,” she stressed.
