Azerbaijan, Iran focus on energy, transport, key bilateral projects
As part of his working visit to Tehran, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov has met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and the advancement of joint projects between the two countries.
Asadov conveyed greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Pezeshkian, marking the warmth of diplomatic ties between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers.
During the discussions, the sides reviewed the ongoing development of Azerbaijan-Iran relations, emphasizing cooperation built on the principles of friendship and good-neighbourliness.
Specific attention was given to the implementation of joint projects in key sectors such as transport, energy, and oil and gas. Both sides acknowledged the significant progress in these areas and reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding collaboration.
The parties also highlighted the importance of the 3rd Caspian Economic Forum, which serves as a crucial platform for enhancing regional cooperation. The forum’s role in addressing the new realities and opportunities in the region was a focal point of the talks.
PM Asadov arrived in Iran on February 17 to attend the 3rd Caspian Economic Forum.
The prime ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan are participating in the forum.

The two-day event aims to explore ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation among the Caspian countries. Director General for Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Russia at Iran's Trade Promotion Organisation (TPO) Akbar Godari said that key discussion areas include healthcare, energy, finance, tourism, investment in free trade zones, and logistics.
