02 May 2025 17:46

Baku and Nairobi have pledged to deepen their bilateral ties, particularly in trade and investment, following the first round of inter-ministerial political consultations between Azerbaijan and Kenya held in the Kenyan capital.

The consultations were led on the Kenyan side by Foreign Ministry Secretary Korir Sing’Oei, while Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Sing’Oei, sharing details of the meeting on social media, described the discussions as “productive” and said the two nations had committed to strengthening collaboration across multiple sectors. These include trade, investment, agriculture, defence, technology, education, and other strategic areas.

“We highly value Azerbaijan’s leadership in organising the COP29 climate conference in Baku,” Sing’Oei stated. “We also deeply appreciate Azerbaijan’s efforts in implementing the Loss and Damage Fund and in scaling up climate financing through the new collective quantitative goal of $300 billion.”

In addition to bilateral matters, the two sides also reaffirmed their intention to enhance cooperation within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement, signalling a shared commitment to global multilateral engagement.
