Azerbaijan reinforces defence positions in Nakhchivan PHOTO
The units and subunits of the Separate Combined-Arms Army stationed in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic's mountainous terrain and dominant heights have created exemplary conditions for service in defensive positions.
On October 20, Supreme Majlis Chairman of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov visited the units located in the Havush and Buzgov areas, familiarised himself with the engineering improvement of positions, the preparation of engineering fortifications, the organisation of personnel service and living conditions, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry press service.
To improve the living conditions of the personnel in this direction, five points have been reconstructed. They have been provided with electricity, natural gas and all types of furniture equipment, and major repair and restoration work has been carried out at four points. More than 20 kilometres of power lines between the positions were replaced, the supply routes at all positions were improved and about 6 kilometres of supply routes were additionally laid. The positions were provided with concrete shelters, which increased the stability of the defence. All positions were provided with food, belongings, water, fuel and firewood, winter supplies were created. In addition to industrial lighting, solar panels are also installed in the positions for the use of alternative and renewable energy sources.
Later, Talibov visited the positions located in the Buzgov area, met with soldiers and officers, gave appropriate instructions to strengthen the positions, and continue work on their improvement.
About 2 tonnes of fruits, vegetables and food, 23 televisions, 3,500 sets of warm clothes, and 10,000 packs of cigarettes were delivered to the warehouses.
