Azerbaijan revives mining industry in liberated lands
Chief Specialist of the Geological Expertise Department at the Azerbaijani State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources Nahid Mammadov has said that prior to the occupation, Fuzuli had six mineral deposits, Aghdam had fifteen, and Khojavend had three.
Mammadov made these remarks at the meeting of the working group on environmental issues in Aghdam, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
He noted that in Aghdam, four deposits are now operational: one for natural stone and three for sand and gravel.
Additionally, there are plans to auction a deposit of cement raw materials and two deposits of facing stone.
Mammadov also mentioned that three fields have been activated in Fuzuli.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board at Tamiz Shahar Sabit Zeyniyev noted that after the anti-terrorist operation, waste disposal sites were established in the territories freed from occupation.
Zeyniyev mentioned that landfills have been set up: 10 hectares in Aghdara, 20 hectares in Khojaly, and 10 hectares in Khojavend for waste management.
“Waste from both Khankendi and Shusha will be processed at the Khojaly landfill. The Mine Action Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (ANAMA) is managing the work at the Khojaly and Khojavend sites, with work in Aghdara to begin soon,” he added.
Journalists gathered at the Agali Hotel in the Zangilan district's Agali village to mark the second anniversary of the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service's operations in the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts.
Executive Director of the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service Novras Jafarov addressed attendees, highlighting the achievements over the past two years.
He emphasised that in alignment with the Great Return state programme, the service has been dedicated to the restoration and construction efforts in the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts. These efforts include the construction of both apartment buildings and private residential homes across various settlements.
Jafarov provided specific updates on projects in the Gubadli district, announcing that the construction of a new residential complex in Gubadli city is set to commence by the end of this year.
The Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service for the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts was established on July 21, 2022, by a presidential decree. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to rebuilding and revitalising these districts, ensuring a prosperous future for their residents.
