Azerbaijan, Russia review bilateral ties and 2025 diplomatic agenda
On December 19, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia, Rahman Mustafayev, held talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
The discussions centred on pressing matters in Azerbaijani-Russian bilateral relations, as well as developments in the South Caucasus and the Middle East, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Both sides highlighted the steady progress in Azerbaijani-Russian allied relations over the past year. This partnership has seen significant achievements in political, economic, and humanitarian domains, underscored by over 60 high-level mutual visits in 2024, including presidential engagements.
Ambassador Mustafayev also presented Azerbaijan's perspective on the peace treaty negotiations with Armenia, emphasizing Baku's stance on advancing peace and stability in the region.
The meeting further reviewed the roadmap for future bilateral engagements, including a schedule of high-level visits and contacts planned for 2025.
Rahman Mustafayev, who assumed his role as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia earlier this year, was previously Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. His new appointment came through a presidential order signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 1, 2024.
