Azerbaijan's Naftalan hosts international tourism conference

As a result of measures implemented within the framework of state programmes on the socio-economic development of the regions, Naftalan has also entered a new period of development. Thanks to its healing oil and modern tourist infrastructure, today Naftalan is becoming one of the unique resort towns deserving the special attention of tourists. The high efficiency of treatment of patients on the basis of curative oil baths, along with the modern tourist infrastructure created in the town, increased the attractiveness of Naftalan for tourists. As a result of the work done, prestigious international events are also held in Naftalan today.

According to Report, an international scientific-practical conference entitled "Naftalan - a source of synergy between health and tourism. Development strategy of the International Tourism Centre" kicked off in Naftalan on October 7. This event is a continuation of the first international scientific-practical conference jointly organised on October 8-9, 2022 by the Naftalan Executive Authority, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Tourism Agency, Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau and PMD Hospitality.

The main objective of the conference is to study the best practices in the field of medical tourism and the results of scientific research conducted in this field, to establish relationships between stakeholders in the tourism industry, to promote tourism development to enhance cultural exchange and to identify prospects for the development of the medical tourism sector.

The conference is attended by specialists in tourism, healthcare, resort and hotel industry and representatives of public authorities from Azerbaijan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Germany and the Russian Federation.
