Azerbaijani MP accuses Euronest PA of germinating seeds of enmity
Member of Azerbaijani delegation Soltan Mammadov has accused Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of germinating seeds of enmity.
“Euronest Parliamentary Assembly serves to re-germinate seeds of enmity,” Mammadov said at the second working session of the 11th Ordinary Session of the Euronest PA, Trend reports.
"The results of voting on the report submitted by the social committee serve not peace and cooperation between the participants of the Eastern Partnership program, but rather germination of seeds of enmity. One of the main principles of the act establishing the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly was to encourage cooperation, but today we can see otherwise," he said.
Mammadov noted that the whole world is now trying to address major problems - conflicts, problems caused by climate change.
"Azerbaijan at this historic moment is contributing to global energy security, taking successful steps to transition to green energy. Perhaps there have never been so many problems in the world as there are now. We are talking about a chain of complex problems that threaten all of humanity, current and future generations. The PA report does not reflect the realities. The proposals and corrections we submitted were not accepted, although all the proposals are based on international law, documents adopted by the UN, the Council of Europe and other authoritative organizations," the MP underlined.
Mammadov also said that the Euronest PA should be impartial and treat the rights of all its members equally. "We proposed to reflect the issue of Azerbaijani refugees in the document. How do they differ from refugees from other Eastern Partnership countries who are offered assistance?" he noted.
The MP added that the Azerbaijani delegation will vote against the report, which goes beyond the peaceful context and contradicts initiatives to ensure stability and security in the South Caucasus.
