Azerbaijani official's speech on colonialism circulated as UN official document
The speech delivered by Farid Soltanov, an employee of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, at the Special Committee (C24) regional event, on implementing the UN Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples, has been circulated as an official UN document.
During his address, Soltanov highlighted Azerbaijan's active participation and contributions to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which Azerbaijan chaired from 2019 to 2023 and remains a member of the Troika. He emphasized Azerbaijan's efforts to promote multilateralism and the establishment of parliamentary, youth, and women's networks within the NAM during its chairmanship, Report informs.
Soltanov also expressed Azerbaijan's concerns regarding ongoing colonialism and the emergence of new forms of colonialism in the 21st century.
His speech marks Azerbaijan's inaugural participation in the C24 meeting, dedicated to implementing the UN Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples.
