Baku hosts round table on Lachin road PHOTO
A round table on the topic "Lachin and the Lachin road: strategic vector of victory in the Patriotic War" was held at the Centre for Social Research (CSR).
According to Report, the event was attended by deputies, NGO leaders, and political experts.
Milli Majlis deputy, deputy chairman of CSR, Professor Elshad Mirbashir said that in the 44-day patriotic war our country proved to the world how strong it is: "The Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev returned our lands, which were under enemy occupation for 30 years. Azerbaijan is building infrastructure in the territories liberated from occupation. Armenia is not even interested in the fate of Armenians living in Karabakh. And the fact that they do not show interest in participating in the implementation of the project related to the new corridor is a vivid example of this."
MP Hikmet Babaoglu said that official Yerevan does not fulfill its commitments on several points of the declaration: "There are still Armenian illegal armed groups on our territory. Armenia does not provide any information about the fate of our citizens missing or captured during the First Karabakh War. No steps have been taken to open communications. Under the guise of Russian peacekeepers, they killed a soldier of the Azerbaijani army. This should be regarded as political terror."
At the event, Taira Allahyarova, a member of the board of directors of the CSR made a presentation entitled "The ongoing environmental terror and acts of vandalism against cultural monuments in Lachin from the perspective of crimes against humanity", while Nizami Safarov, a member of the Milli Majlis committee on legal policy and state-building, made a report on "Illegal settlement in the Lachin region in the context of international law".
