The National Urban Forums of Azerbaijan have emerged as a central platform for dialogue, cooperation, and knowledge exchange, the chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, Anar Guliyev, said at the 3rd such Forum underway in Khankendi on October 15-17.
Guliyev noted that the first forum held in 2022 brought together government officials, experts, and international partners, laying the foundation for a national urban platform, Caliber.Az reports.
“The second forum in 2023 further strengthened this collaborative environment, advancing partnerships and innovation while promoting alignment with the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals,” Guliyev noted.
“Over the past three years, the National Urban Forum has evolved beyond being just an event - it has become an institutionalised platform for dialogue, cooperation and collective progress in the field of sustainable urban development,” Guliyev said.
Highlighting this year’s forum, he added that the event, dedicated to the theme “Towards Climate-Resilient and Healthy Cities: Harnessing Regional Partnerships and Innovative Solutions,” offers important opportunities to build more resilient, safe, and inclusive cities through regional cooperation, especially at a time when cities worldwide are facing the challenges of climate change.
