Baku prepares for WUF13 with extensive stadium infrastructure PHOTO
Large-scale infrastructure works have started at the Baku Olympic Stadium in preparation for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Eldar Rasulov, Media Relations Manager of the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, said.
Rasulov noted that the venue fully meets the scale and requirements of an international forum, with modern infrastructure being built across the stadium grounds. Plans include conference halls and other facilities covering approximately 92,000 square meters, Caliber.Az report per local media.

The Urban Expo exhibition will also take place on a 35,000-square-meter area, hosting representatives from UN agencies, academic institutions, international financial organisations, NGOs, foundations, and private companies.
The manager emphasised that the forum is open to all, with free registration having begun in September on the official UN-Habitat website. A transport logistics plan has been developed for participants, featuring 11 transport hubs and mapped routes connecting Heydar Aliyev International Airport, hotels, central Baku, and the Olympic Stadium.
Rasulov added that WUF13 is being organised with a strong focus on sustainability, adhering to the ISO 20121 international standard. Volunteers play a key role, with a dedicated Volunteer Centre receiving about 16,000 applications. Ultimately, 2,500 selected and trained volunteers will participate in various forum activities.
