Baku to screen “Mayotte: Island of Death” With international guests, officials
On September 2-3, the Nizami Cinema Centre in Baku will host the screening of the short film Mayotte: Island of Death.
The event will feature a distinguished audience, including public and political figures, diplomats, academics, NGO leaders, and members of political parties from Mayotte, an island in the Comoros archipelago that is also an overseas territory of France, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
The film explores the challenges faced by Mayotte due to French neo-colonial policies. The screening will be accompanied by a series of bilateral meetings involving the guests.
The event will be addressed by Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), and a representative from CBC TV channel, which was involved in the film’s production, among other notable speakers.
Baku Initiative Group encourages mutual interest and international cooperation within international norms and principles. One of the main objectives of the BIG is to support the fight against colonialism and neocolonialism.
