Belizean ambassador lauds Azerbaijan's support for Bonaire's rights
Belize's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Carlos Fuller has said that one of the core principles of Belize's foreign policy is the promotion of human rights and respect for the territorial integrity of countries.
Fuller made these remarks during a press briefing at the Baku Initiative Group office, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He emphasised that after decades of struggle, Belize has achieved representation at the UN and is committed to supporting countries affected by colonialism.
"The people of Bonaire need to be heard. They are holding meetings with UN representatives in New York and actively fighting for their rights. I thank the Azerbaijani government and the Baku Initiative Group for providing this platform," he said.
The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) is a diplomatic and advocacy organisation based in Baku, Azerbaijan, focused on fostering dialogue and cooperation on issues related to colonised peoples, self-determination, and human rights. The Baku Initiative Group has been involved in creating safe spaces for dialogue, such as conferences on self-determination and the rights of colonised peoples.
