In a significant development for the socio-economic revitalization of Azerbaijan's liberated territories, construction work on the Khudaferin-Gubadli-Lachin highway is progressing at an accelerated pace.
Anar Najafli, head of the press service of the State Road Agency of Azerbaijan, emphasized the pivotal role of this infrastructure project in fostering development across districts long subjected to Armenian occupation, Caliber.Az reports.
Najafli highlighted the strategic significance of the Khudaferin-Gubadli-Lachin highway, which originates from the Hajigabul-Horadiz-Aghband-Zangezur main highway, traversing the vicinity of the Khudaferin reservoir. With a total length of 56.4 kilometres, the highway is being constructed as a four-lane road, boasting a generous carriageway width of 16.5 meters as per the project specifications.
The expansive route of the highway spans through the liberated territories of Zangilan, Gubadli, and Lachin districts of Azerbaijan, serving as a lifeline for over 30 settlements, including the pivotal towns of Gubadli and Lachin. This vital artery of connectivity is poised to facilitate enhanced transportation links, bolstering accessibility and fostering economic growth in the region.
The ongoing construction efforts underscore Azerbaijan's commitment to the comprehensive reconstruction and development of its liberated territories following the successful resolution of the long-standing conflict with Armenia. As work on the Khudaferin-Gubadli-Lachin highway gathers momentum, anticipation mounts for the tangible benefits it promises to deliver, heralding a new era of prosperity and opportunity for the communities nestled in the heart of Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions.
