01 October 2024 11:14

The active phase of the peacekeeping exercise "Unbreakable Brotherhood-2024" has commenced at the Bereg training ground in the Alma-Ata Region of Kazakhstan.

Running from October 1 to 5, the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces will focus on the preparation and execution of a peacekeeping operation, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

Military contingents from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan are participating in the command and staff exercises.

Sultan Kamaletdinov, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defence of Kazakhstan emphasized during the opening ceremony that "the situation in the world remains turbulent, and we must be ready for various challenges and threats relevant not only for our countries but also for the entire world community."

First Deputy Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Hasan Kaloyev highlighted that a unique aspect of this exercise is the inclusion of not only military formations from the organization but also joint actions involving units from internal affairs bodies, police, internal troops, national guard troops, and agencies responsible for emergency response.

Throughout the exercise, participants will simulate a peacekeeping operation aimed at facilitating post-conflict resolution in a crisis zone and delivering humanitarian assistance. Over 2,000 servicemen, along with 500 units of armoured and motor vehicles, Mi-17 and Mi-35 helicopters, Il-76 and Si-295 aircraft, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, will be involved in the exercise.
