Georgia, Azerbaijan bring cooperation to new level
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili has said that strategic cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan is important for the well-being of our countries and the region.
He made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"Regional, strategic cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan is very different, we are beginning to take our cooperation to a new level. This is important for the well-being of our countries and the region. Georgia and Azerbaijan support and respect each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, cooperate in various formats. Cooperation between the two countries successfully continues in the energy and transport spheres," the Georgian minister noted.
Besides, the foreign ministers of Georgia and Azerbaijan discussed the format of trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia.
Darchiashvili noted that he discussed plans for further cooperation in the trilateral format with his colleague:
"We discussed cooperation in the spheres of transport and energy, the importance of the Middle Corridor. The Republic of Azerbaijan is not only a good friend for us, but also a strategic partner. Through joint efforts we have implemented a number of strategically important projects. These projects have strengthened the positions of our region. I am sure that in the future the attractiveness of the region will increase due to these projects".
Darchiashvili also stressed that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project was discussed, as well as the project of underwater Black Sea electric cable.
