Georgia is seeing an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
According to Director of the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital Tengiz Tsertsvadze, during the last week, on average, up to 300 new cases of COVID-19 were detected per day. There is also an increase in the so-called positive share, which is 7-8 per cent, Trend reports.
The director of the hospital said hospitalizations have also increased, but the death rate remains low.
According to him, the appearance of a subspecies of Omicron EG.5, also known as "eris" (eris), is possible in Georgia, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
