Georgians protest another airliner carrying Russians
The cruise liner Astoria Grande, which left Sochi, was met with a protest in the port of Batumi.
The action near the port was held by ordinary citizens and representatives of opposition parties. The protesters unfurled flags of Georgia and the European Union.
There were several confrontations between the protesters and law enforcement officers, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
Citizens started gathering late at night. A large number of police officers were mobilized at the site. Iron barriers have been installed.
This is not the first protest against the Astoria Grande in Georgia.
On the evening of July 27, more than a hundred Georgian civilians gathered with posters at Batumi's pier to oppose the arrival of the cruise ship carrying Russian visitors. People were dissatisfied, among other things, since some travellers told the local media that they had travelled to Abkhazia, which is against Georgian legislation.
