Haber Global: Despite pressure, Corsicans resolutely continue their struggle for independence
Two activists of the Corsican Independence Movement - Nazione, who were illegally arrested by the French police, continue to be detained.
According to Report, Turkish TV channel Haber Global made a story about the situation on the island of Corsica.
According to the report, the two activists were arrested because of their beliefs. They are accused of having "links with a terrorist organisation".
"Members of the newly formed Nazione movement want independence for Corsica. But the Macron government is putting pressure on them. Two of the movement's activists have been in custody in Paris since Tuesday," the report says.
The story went on to say that France talks about the protection of human rights when it comes to other countries but puts pressure on the Corsicans without respecting the values within its borders.
Despite all the difficulties, the Corsicans are determined to continue their fight for independence. The new Nazione movement in Corsica has consolidated more than 600 activists since its creation. The success of the movement from day one has provoked the anger of the French government. Activists have been arrested, their homes raided by the police, beaten in front of their families and taken to Paris.
Nazione says they will not give up the fight and will continue to demand independence for Corsica. The activists are awaiting the arrival of the French interior minister and are preparing further protests, alleging violations of their rights and pressure from the government.
