Hungary: Budapest interested in receiving more Azerbaijani gas volumes
Hungary is interested in receiving additional volumes of gas from Azerbaijan via the interconnector between Serbia and Bulgaria after its construction is completed.
Hungary's Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó made the remarks following a meeting with Serbia's Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Đedović in Budapest, Report informs, citing Serbian media.
The Hungarian minister added that the European Union should provide financial resources for the construction of infrastructure in Southeastern Europe.
The ministers also signed two documents during the meeting.
"The first agreement concerns the construction of the Hungary-Serbia gas pipeline, which will ensure greater security of crude oil supplies. The second project is related to the creation of a joint venture owned by Serbiyagaz and the Hungarian company MVM," Đedović said.
According to the minister, the construction of the Serbia-Bulgaria gas pipeline creates an opportunity to gain access to alternative energy sources.
"With the construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline, Serbia is positioning itself as an important transit country, and thanks to the construction of the Serbia-Bulgaria interconnector, we will have additional capacities, as well as access to alternative energy sources," the Serbian minister said.
