ISIS claims responsibility for Iranian Shiraz attack
Members of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group have claimed responsibility for the attack on the Shah Cherakh mausoleum in the city of Shiraz in the Iranian province of Fars.
At least two people have been killed and several injured in a "terrorist" attack, according to Iran's Tasnim News Agency.
Press TV says there were two attackers, one was detained immediately after the attack, the other fled.
The terrorists earlier on August 13 entered the Shah Cherah mausoleum complex revered by Muslims and opened fire on the servants.
A similar attack at the same location occurred about a year ago. In October 2022, an armed man entered the mausoleum compound and killed 15 pilgrims.
It is noted that two militants tried to enter the territory of the mosque, one of them was detained, efforts to catch the second continue. Radicals continue to shoot at those at the entrance to the mausoleum.
At the moment, the building is cordoned off and the entire area around it is under the control of law enforcement forces.
