Media: Russia's Ryazan apartment struck during wave of overnight drone attacks PHOTO/VIDEO
A Ukrainian drone crashed into a residential high-rise building in the Russian city of Ryazan during a wave of overnight drone attacks on the night of January 16, as Russian air defence forces said they intercepted and destroyed dozens of aircraft-type drones across multiple regions.
In Ryazan, one drone crashed into a residential high-rise building. Russian officials said there were no reports of casualties. Residents reported hearing explosions during the night of January 16, Caliber.Az reports.
According to ASTRA’s analysis of eyewitness footage, the drone struck a building in the Otkrytie residential complex, hitting around the 18th floor. The footage was filmed from a distance of about 650 metres. Local authorities have not commented on the incident, and the extent of any damage remains unclear.
The Russian Ministry of Defence said air defences shot down 22 drones over the Ryazan region, 11 over the Rostov and Voronezh regions combined, seven over the Kursk region, four over the Tula and Volgograd regions, and one each over Crimea, the Oryol region and the Lipetsk region.
The ministry said 44 drones were intercepted over the Belgorod region.
In the Rostov region, air attacks were repelled in six districts without casualties or damage, Governor Yuri Slyusar said. Authorities in the Voronezh and Tula regions also reported no injuries or consequences on the ground. Officials in several other affected regions have yet to comment.
