New bus route connecting Baku to Karabakh regions set to launch
Starting September 16, a new bus route linking Baku with Khojaly, Khankandi, and Shusha will commence as part of the “Great Return” program.
The Ministry of Digital Development and Transportation announced that the service will be operated from Baku International Bus Station, Caliber.Az reports.
Ticket prices for the new route are set at 14.80 manat (($8.70) for the Baku-Shusha journey, 14.20 manat ($8.35) for Baku-Khankandi, and 13.90 ($8.20) for Baku-Khojaly.
Tickets will be available exclusively online through the portal biletim.az.
In addition, a new high-comfort bus service between Barda and Khankendi has also been introduced. The inaugural bus departed from Barda’s bus station to Khankendi on September 14. This route will operate three times daily, with departures from Barda at 7:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 4:30 PM (GMT+4).
The Azerbaijani government previously initiated regular tourist bus trips to Karabakh, a region reclaimed following the 2020 conflict with Armenia, starting January 24, 2022. These trips, marking the first chance for Azerbaijani civilians to visit the area since the early 1990s conflict, are exclusively for Azerbaijani citizens.
