Official: US bases to be destroyed if it attacks Iran
Advisor to the Iranian negotiating delegation in the nuclear talks Mohammad Marandi has issued a stark warning that US bases in the Persian Gulf would be obliterated if the US engages in any attack against Iran.
"No one in the region, except Netanyahu and his associates, desires an escalation. Such a conflict could spell disaster for the global economy. Should the US attack Iran, there is no doubt that American bases in Iraq and the Persian Gulf will be destroyed, and the regimes hosting these bases will be devastated," Marandi stated in an interview with TRT World, Caliber.Az reports citing the Iranian media.
Marandi emphasized the vulnerability of these regimes, which he described as "small" and "very vulnerable," with significant oil and gas assets. He asserted that if the US strikes Iran, the host countries would be held accountable for hosting American bases and their own destruction.
He further warned of potential economic collapse, citing current turmoil in global stock markets as evidence of the broader consequences of such an escalation.
Mohammad Marandi, advisor to Iran's nuclear negotiation team, cautioned that US bases in the Persian Gulf would be destroyed if the US attacks Iran. In an interview with TRT World, Marandi emphasized, "The smart thing for the Americans to do is to be very careful about their actions."
He further asserted that, despite Iran's reluctance for regional conflict, it has no choice but to strike back against Israel. Marandi criticized the US for failing to prevent Israeli actions and claimed that the US and European regimes protect Israeli crimes. He suggested that countries in the Axis of Resistance, including Iran, should retaliate to halt Israeli atrocities.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on August 3 that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed in Tehran on July 31. The IRGC labeled the assassination as an act designed and executed by the Israeli regime with US support. In response, high-ranking Iranian officials, including Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, vowed severe retaliation against Israel for this act of terror.
