Over 1,000 tourists explore Shusha's cultural treasures in 2023
In 2023, a total of 1,133 tourists embarked on a journey to explore the rich cultural heritage of Shusha, as revealed in the report on the activities of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers in 2023.
The inaugural tourist trip to Shusha was organized on March 18, 2023, with the first group comprising 40 individuals enjoying a two-day excursion, Report informs.
During their visit, local tourists had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the historical significance of Shusha by exploring iconic landmarks such as Jidir Duzu, the museum-mausoleum complex of Molla Panah Vagif, the Shusha fortress, the Ganja Gate, and the symbol of Khari Bulbul.
Moreover, visitors also had the chance to visit the mosques of Yukhari Govkhar Ahga, Ashaghi Govhar Ahga, and other notable attractions.
It's worth noting that the commencement of regular bus services to Shusha and Aghdam on January 24, 2022, marked a significant milestone in facilitating access to these historic cities. Since then, a total of 691 flights were conducted until February 21, 2023, welcoming 28,227 passengers to the territories liberated from occupation.
The increasing interest of tourists in exploring Shusha's cultural and historical landmarks underscores the significance of preserving and showcasing Azerbaijan's rich heritage. As tourism continues to flourish in the region, efforts to promote and protect these invaluable assets will play a pivotal role in fostering cultural exchange, economic growth, and international cooperation.
